Warren County in New Jersey offers trails along the Delaware and Musconetcong rivers, industrial history, and historic villages. A vacation rental in one of the county’s towns is not necessarily near a trail or the Delaware Water Gap. Choose based on your planned activities and the exact rental address.

Nature and Trails

The county parks cover almost 2,000 acres of forests, meadows, streams, and lakes. Hiking, biking, and kayaking are described there. The Warren Highlands Trail stretches for more than 52 miles from the Delaware River to the Musconetcong River. The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area has more than 150 miles of trails of varying difficulty, as well as opportunities for swimming and canoeing. Check current access and water and trail conditions for each outing.

Canals and Ironworks

At Bread Lock Park, trails and a replica canal boat recall the area’s transportation history. Florence Kuipers Park preserves more than a mile of the Morris Canal bed, including its towpath. Oxford Furnace was established in 1741 and is considered the oldest surviving hot-blast furnace in New Jersey. Shippen Manor, dating from 1754, is a rare surviving home of an ironmaster. Tours depend on the respective opening hours.
