The site was established by Heinrich Friedrich Dangberg in 1857, before Nevada became a state.

Several structures give the town’s history a tangible face. The Minden Inn was completed in 1916 as a 44-room hotel designed by Frederic J. DeLongchamps. The Minden Wool Warehouse was also built in 1916 to store wool from Carson Valley and Antelope Valley, as well as potatoes. Construction of Coventry Cross Episcopal Church began in 1936; in 1954, it was moved to its present location in Minden.

CVIC Hall is available year-round for public and private events. In the past, it served as a movie theater, gymnasium, live theater, church, and center of social life in Carson Valley. It thus complements the historic tours with a place whose use has changed several times over the years.
