From May through September, opening hours are listed as Saturdays and Sundays from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site preserves the Boone family's final residence and provides insight into the 1830s. The site includes a cabin, remnants of outbuildings, the family cemetery, an African American cemetery, and 370 acres of the original Boone homestead. For families, this site may be particularly interesting when historical stories are to be conveyed not only through buildings but also through preserved landscape features and different places of remembrance.

At the Lake Springfield Boathouse, canoes and kayaks are rented from May through September, weather permitting.
