The museum is scheduled to open seasonally from the first Saturday in May through the last Sunday in October; visiting hours are Thursday through Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Stockton itself also offers points of interest for travelers interested in culture. The Cedar County Historical Society operates a local history museum and a genealogical research center there. The museum is open on the first and third Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., as well as on the last Monday of the month from 1 to 4 p.m. Those interested in putting historic architecture into context will find another notable point of reference in the Caplinger Mills Historic District: It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. The Stockton Community Building is listed in Cedar County as a property on this register dated December 10, 1998.

Regional Experiences in Stockton and El Dorado Springs

Stockton’s Black Walnut Festival takes place every September in Stockton City Park. The theme of black walnuts can also be found at Hammons Emporium, a café, coffee shop, and gift store with an extensive selection of black walnuts. El Dorado Springs was founded around a spring that was believed to have medicinal value.
