Accommodation in Neshoba County
Neshoba County brings together a variety of travel interests: Choctaw culture, country music, memorial sites and water-related attractions offer several ways to shape your plans. There are also events with a character of their own. First, consider which experiences you want to define your trip—that will help you tailor your search for a vacation rental or holiday home to your interests.
Festivals and Water Experiences
The Choctaw Indian Fair takes place every July in Choctaw, in Neshoba County. The Neshoba County Fair is also an annual event: it lasts a week and features food as well. In 2026, it was scheduled for June 19–26. If you want to combine your trip with an event, take the relevant dates into account; the 2026 announcement refers to a past date and is not an indication of future dates.
At Geyser Falls Water Theme Park, the main attractions include 12 large water slides, a wave pool and a lazy river. The park covers 23 acres, of which 8 acres are sandy beach. This combination of different water activities is a useful reference point for anyone planning to make time for water experiences during their stay. The figures also make clear that the beach is part of the park, not its entire area.
Burnside Lake Water Park offers a different connection to the landscape: it covers 115 acres and is located on an oxbow lake of the Pearl River. The Philadelphia-Neshoba County Park System adds to the options with walking trails, camping, fishing and a nature trail.
Choctaw Culture, Music and History
The Chahta Immi Cultural Center features exhibits on Choctaw culture and historical collections; there is also a gift shop. This gives visitors a distinct cultural focus, different from the music and water offerings. For families with a range of interests, it may be helpful to plan cultural discoveries separately from active leisure activities.
In Philadelphia, Marty Stuart’s Congress of Country Music shares the cultural heritage of country music through live performances and educational programs. The historic Ellis Theater is the cornerstone of the campus. A Mississippi Blues Trail marker in Philadelphia commemorates Otis Rush, who was born south of Philadelphia, in Neshoba County, in 1935. Country and blues thus add different notes to the area’s musical heritage.
The memorial sites also give the trip a historical dimension. The marker for the Goodman, Chaney and Schwerner Memorial is on Highway 19 at its intersection with County Road 515, about 10 miles south of Philadelphia. Another marker for the Freedom Summer Murders is at Mt. Zion Methodist Church on County Road 747 in Neshoba County; Highway 16 is 2.2 miles from there. The Schwerner, Chaney, and Goodman Memorial Highway follows MS 19 southeast from the Philadelphia city limits to the Neshoba County–Newton County line.
Travel Interests as a Guide
For nature lovers and active days, the Park System offers different options from the cultural sites and memorial markers.
