Rock Hall: Discover Sailing, Beaches and Culture
Accommodation in Rock Hall
Rock Hall is a waterfront town whose maritime character extends beyond sailing. Ferry Park offers a local beach, and Rock Hall’s outer area can also be explored on foot or by bicycle. The Mainstay, on Main Street, is a center for cultural and performing arts. These different highlights offer a range of options for planning your trip.
Sailing: Excursions and Courses
Shardana Sailing Charters is based at Osprey Point Marina in Rock Hall. Offerings include half-day, full-day and sunset excursions, as well as overnight, weekend and multi-day trips. This lets you factor your preferred trip format and timeframe into your plans. The 42-foot sailboat accommodates up to six passengers per trip, making the maximum group size for an excursion clear.
Another way to experience sailing is through lessons: Delmarva Sailing School offers courses on the Chesapeake Bay and teaches and certifies students according to American Sailing Association standards. The sailing options therefore serve different purposes: Shardana focuses on trips in a range of formats, while the school focuses on courses and certification.
Marina and Beach
Rock Hall Landing Marina provides direct access to the Chesapeake Bay from Rock Hall Harbor. The marina has 75 deep-water slips for seasonal and transient docking. This is a different kind of harbor experience from a charter trip: here, the focus is on access to the Bay and slips, while Shardana focuses on trip formats.
Ferry Park is Rock Hall’s small local beach on Beach Road. It provides a beach as a separate activity alongside the sailing options.
On Foot, by Bike and for Culture
The official Rock Hall Loop is about 3.2 miles long. Rock Hall’s outer area, known locally as “the loop,” can be explored on foot or by bicycle. This offers another way to discover the town through outdoor activity. The loop’s approximate length is a different planning detail from the various time formats of the sailing excursions.
The Mainstay on Main Street is a center for cultural and performing arts. The Rock Hall Museum explores the history of the waterfront town through artifacts, focusing on the community’s everyday life, economy and traditions. The museum is currently closed while a new location is being sought. Therefore, do not plan on visiting it as an open museum at this time.
Choose the Right Focus for Your Trip
When choosing a vacation rental, consider the kind of mix you want for your days: You can choose a sailing excursion from the available formats, while Ferry Park, exploring on foot or by bike, and The Mainstay add beach, outdoor activity and culture to the mix. Consider what you want your trip to revolve around and which other activities you’d like to include. This will help you tailor your search for a vacation rental in Rock Hall to your planned stay.
