Observe any protection and access rules; the historic route should not be confused with a modern hiking trail that is marked throughout.

The Cimarron Golf Club covers 91 acres in the historic Santa Fe Trail area. The course features rolling terrain with native plants and trees, a grass driving range, covered hitting bays, and a short-game practice area. History in Cimarron

The Cimarron Hotel was built in 1886. The old Gray County Courthouse in Cimarron was associated with the “County Seat War” of 1889. There is a veterans’ memorial at the current courthouse. Check locally to confirm whether the business or fountain is currently accessible. Cimarron is on Highway 50 between Garden City and Dodge City, making it a clearly located starting point.

More destinations in the county

Segment 1 of the Soule Canal is located on the eastern edge of Ingalls, in Gray County. It is considered one of the best-preserved examples of this canal in the county. The Stauth Memorial Museum, in turn, tells the story of Claude and Donalda Stauth’s travels around the world from Montezuma. The collection includes the Wall Western Collection of miniature bronzes by Frederic Remington. The connection to Montezuma is important: the museum should not be mistakenly placed in Cimarron.
