Historic buildings and memorial sites also shape the area. The present-day Lucas County Courthouse was completed in early spring 1894. The A.J. Stephens House, built in 1908, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Otterbein Church, which served as a place of worship for a pioneer congregation of the United Brethren in Christ in Benton Township, was relocated to the grounds of the Lucas County Historical Society Museum in 1976. A monument near Chariton Point marks approximately the site of the first permanent residence of non-Indigenous settlers in Lucas County.
