Discover Forest Park

Forest Park combines community recreation with events that bring together movement, music, culture, and food. The city’s recreational offerings range from parks and sports programs to a wide selection of activities; individual festivals add their own distinctive touches. When planning your trip, it’s worth first asking whether a specific event date should shape your stay or whether you’d rather focus on the broader range of recreational activities.

Recreation among parks and sports

Forest Park Recreation & Leisure Services offers parks, sports programs, and a diverse selection of recreational activities. The department’s mission is to provide affordable recreational, physical activity, and cultural opportunities for residents. Physical activity and sports sit alongside culture in this community-focused approach; that’s a different focus from a single festival date. If you want to plan your visit around a particular offering, check the specific program before your trip. Without a set event date, parks and recreational activities can provide a general framework for your plans while you keep your itinerary flexible.

Events with different highlights

Selena Day: Cumbia at the Fountain is an annual event hosted by the City of Forest Park at the Main Street Fountain. The April 18, 2025 edition honored Tejano musician Selena Quintanilla and included a 5-kilometer run. The second annual Food & Wine Crawl took place in April 2025 at The Fountain on Main in Forest Park. It featured food and wines; live music and Vino Bingo were also part of the program. The difference can help you choose a date: Selena Day combined a tribute and physical activity, while the Crawl brought together food, wine, and entertainment. Check the dates and program for future editions.

On September 27, 2025, the Free Your Mind Fest brought movement, music, food, and conversations about mental health to the Starr Park Amphitheater in Forest Park. The program thus went beyond music and food. If you’re interested in combining movement with conversations about mental health, the 2025 edition brought several themes together in one place. Check the schedule again for future dates and program details.
