Beaches and leafy spots to relax

Plage de la Datcha is in the centre of Le Gosier, opposite Îlet du Gosier, and is lit until 11 p.m. Plage de l’Anse Tabarin is in the town centre, near Datcha. Its tree-lined green space has shaded areas, pavilions and benches; it is also home to a municipal water sports centre and the landing stage for Îlet du Gosier.

The two beach spots differ in specific ways: Datcha combines a central location with evening lighting, while Anse Tabarin offers greenery, seating and the water sports centre. Îlet du Gosier and the coral reef

Îlet du Gosier is a coral islet about one kilometre wide that was once home to pelicans. As a protected natural area, it is part of the Conservatoire du Littoral area. Its underwater trail offers a way to explore the coral reef and adds a special nature-focused experience to those of the beach spots.

The landing stage for the islet is at Plage de l’Anse Tabarin. Shuttle boats to Îlet du Gosier are listed as running daily between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.; check the schedule locally before travelling. This lets you include the beach and island in your plans without relying on unverified departure times.

Beach walks and a place of remembrance

Plage de Saint-Félix is a wide sandy beach used by walkers and joggers from as early as 5 a.m. Swimmers should watch out for heavy surf and strong currents; check local conditions before swimming. At the end of Plage de Saint-Félix stands a stele bearing a message about the abolition of slavery in Creole, French and English. The inscription recalls the first abolition in 1794 and the reintroduction of slavery by Napoleon in 1802.

Plage de Petit-Havre is known for outings with family and friends. At Pointe de la Verdure, a coastal path runs between hotels, a casino and secluded little coves. The coastal path offers another option for a walk. This gives you a choice of different experiences: a wide sandy beach, a beach known for outings with others, or a coastal path with little coves.

Friday open-air market

The “Mawché Pannyé Gozyé” open-air market takes place on Fridays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the car parks at Anse Tabarin. This regular market brings tourists and locals together. If you plan to visit, check the schedule locally, as dates may change.
