Saint-Zotique: Lake, obstacle course and cycling paths
Accommodation in Saint-Zotique
Saint-Zotique combines activities on the water with trails for getting around on land. Plage de Saint-Zotique is on the shore of Lac Saint-François; it features the Eau Défi obstacle course, opportunities for water sports and nearly five kilometres of developed trails. The paved Piste cyclable Soulanges also passes through the town. When looking for a vacation rental in Saint-Zotique, these different highlights can help guide your search: Is the lake your main draw, would you like to try the obstacle course, or would you rather spend time cycling and on the trails?
Water activities on Lac Saint-François
At Plage de Saint-Zotique, you can rent pedal boats, canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards to use on Lac Saint-François. This selection offers different ways to experience the lake: if you prefer sitting and pedalling, you can choose a pedal boat; if you’d rather paddle, there are several types of boats to choose from. Stand-up paddleboards add another way to get out on the water.
Eau Défi offers a challenge of its own. The course includes more than 30 inflatable structures, with climbing, racing, balance and strength obstacles. The challenges involve different kinds of movement, so if you plan to visit the course, you can factor this mix into your day. A life jacket is required to access the course. Children aged six to eight must be accompanied by an adult. This age requirement is an important consideration for families thinking of including Eau Défi in their plans.
Cycling through Saint-Zotique
The paved Piste cyclable Soulanges is 35 kilometres long in total. Its first 23 kilometres run from Pointe-des-Cascades to Les Coteaux; the route then continues through Saint-Zotique and Rivière-Beaudette. This means the section through Saint-Zotique can be seen as part of a longer cycling route, rather than mistaken for a loop around the town.
Along the section of the path that runs through Saint-Zotique, there are rest areas with bicycle repair stations, washrooms and seating. Signage helps cyclists find their way along the route. Another feature: the path is cleared of snow in winter. This makes it different from a summer-only cycling route; for winter activities, developed trails are also available at the beach.
Trails for a range of activities and a cultural landmark
The nearly five kilometres of trails at Plage de Saint-Zotique are designed for walking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and fat biking. Fat bikes are available to rent on site. If you’d rather spend time outdoors on trails than on the water, you’ll find several activities to choose from here. The stated trail length refers to these developed trails at the beach.
Église de Saint-Zotique is also part of the town’s identity: it is an immovable cultural heritage property of religious heritage and was built in 1962–1963. For travellers who would like to include a cultural and historical landmark in their choice of destination alongside outdoor activities, it adds another dimension to Saint-Zotique.
When choosing your vacation rental, you can first consider which of these aspects matters most for your stay: Lac Saint-François and the activities at the beach, Eau Défi, the Piste cyclable Soulanges, or the trails for winter and other activities.
