Culture and History

The Issyk-Kul Regional Museum is located in the center of Cholpon-Ata and is identified as one of the city's main attractions. The Issyk-Kul State Historical-Cultural Museum-Reserve in Cholpon-Ata has a main exhibition and themed halls featuring historical, archaeological, and nomadic household artifacts.

About 3.5 kilometers north of the main museum lies the Cholpon-Ata Open-Air Petroglyph Museum in a residential and agricultural area of the city. The petroglyph site covers approximately 42 hectares of rock surface. Generally, a guide is available there to lead visitors to notable rock carvings.

Rukh Ordo is an open-air museum on the shore of Issyk-Kul in Cholpon-Ata. The complex comprises ten mini-museums and five chapels representing Islam, Catholicism, Orthodoxy, Buddhism, and Judaism. Rukh Ordo's concert hall serves as a venue for festivals, competitions, and concerts.

Lake and Water

The public beaches are located on the northeastern side of the Cholpon-Ata peninsula. From the city center, visitors can walk to the peninsula's beaches via Chekirova Street and Presidents Park.

The Cruise Yacht Club is located in a secluded bay on the southwestern edge of Cholpon-Ata. It offers cruises on a converted fishing vessel, a speedboat, or an international-class sailing yacht. The services also include underwater excursions, fishing, and diving; overall, the club provides a wide range of leisure services on the water.

Summer and Local Cuisine

In summer, horse races and music concerts are held at the Cholpon-Ata Hippodrome. Horse riding is also possible in connection with visits to the hippodrome. Restaurants in Cholpon-Ata serve Russian, Chinese including Dungan, as well as Central Asian cuisine.
