Nature

The Shamsi-Tuyuk hunting area was converted into a jointly managed protected natural area in 2016. Its field base supports research, ranger training, and an environmental education camp.

The Shamsi Gorge includes sections of coniferous forest that visitors can explore and runs along the Shamsi River and its Tuyuk tributary; there are trails along other tributaries as well. Along the Shamsi and Tuyuk rivers, visitors can go for walks, climb a hill, and enjoy panoramic views of the valleys, as well as have a picnic by the river. From Tokmok, travelers can turn south toward Koshoy and Shamshy and continue from Shamshy into the Shamsi Gorge. The farther the route leads into the mountains, the worse the road surface becomes; the suitability of the vehicle therefore matters.
