Merke State Regional Nature Park is located in Zhambyl Region. The 11th-century Karakhan Mausoleum is located in Taraz’s historic center; it is a pilgrimage site and one of the city’s most important tourist attractions. The Akyrtas palace complex is an 8th- to 9th-century historic monument in Zhambyl Region.
