Nature

The Aidarlyasha geomorphological section is located near Khromtau. Along 1.5 kilometers of riverbank, it exposes 40 layers of the Earth’s crust and forms a cliff up to 50 meters high. The Aidarlyasha stratotype was granted global status in 1996 because it preserves traces of the Carboniferous and Permian systems. In 2005, the section was included in Kazakhstan’s republican list of specially protected territories.

Culture

The Oysylkara burial site is located nearby and is listed among the nationally significant sacred sites of Aktobe Region. An exhibition at the district museum of Khromtau displayed 500 artifacts.

Baursak, zhent, kurt, ayran, kumis, and shubat were served at an Oysylkara-Orda celebration. The interiors and walls of the Nūr Mosque in Khromtau District are decorated with Kazakh ornamental patterns. The cultural center of Khromtau District is part of a district network of 13 club institutions.
