Tba at a Glance

Tba is described as a place on the right bank of the Borjomi River, approximately 1,100 metres above sea level and about 9 kilometres from Borjomi. Tba is characterised by a traditional agricultural way of life and surrounded by mountain ridges and forested slopes typical of the Lesser Caucasus. It also has cool summers and cold, snowy winters. Nature

The Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park includes Samtskhe-Javakheti as one of its three regions. It offers one-day and multi-day tours and has 12 marked and comfortable trails. Seventy-five per cent of the national park is covered by intact forests. The park is home to relict, endemic, rare and endangered flora and fauna.

Wildlife recorded in the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park includes red deer, chamois, roe deer, brown bears, wolves and lynxes.

History and Local Character

During the Soviet era, Tba was known for its special air and balneological properties. Tba remained a summer destination for domestic visitors seeking longer stays. Tba is also mentioned among the once-popular resorts in the Borjomi area.

Getting Around

Access to Tba is via regional roads leading away from the Borjomi Valley. Rain or snow can make navigation more challenging during the transitional seasons. Registration is required for visitors to the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park.
