Ts’inandali Estate is the birthplace of classical Georgian winemaking and the place where Georgia’s first bottled wine was produced. Tsinandali is registered in Georgia as a protected designation of origin for wine.

The vineyards of Ts’inandali Estate are located on the gentle slopes of the Tsinandali PDO at an altitude of 600 to 700 metres, where mountain air meets the Alazani Valley. The 40-hectare vineyard faces the morning sun and benefits from the cooling oak forests in the surrounding area. Ts’inandali lies at the foot of the Tsiv-Gombori Mountains, where the slopes meet the sunny Alazani Valley.

At Ts’inandali Estate, Prince Alexander Chavchavadze combined Georgia’s long winemaking tradition with modern European techniques.

Culture and History

The Ts’inandali Garden covers 18 hectares and is home to more than 1,600 exotic plant species from every continent. Since 2019, it has been listed among the European Historic Heritage Gardens.

In the 19th century, Ts’inandali became a cultural centre visited by Georgian and foreign diplomats and artists. The Ts’inandali Palace Museum displays the interiors and collections of the Chavchavadze family, including Georgia’s first piano, a billiard table, a library and manuscripts.

Experiences

Visitors can take a Ts’inandali wine tour through the vineyards to the historic 19th-century oenotheque. Tsinandali Estate offers Georgian cuisine paired with wines. The Kakheti Wine Route offers cycling routes for different fitness levels and ambitions.
