Red water and mineral springs give Kelechyn a distinctive natural character. There is also a proposed cycling route, an ecopark with an animal area, and historical landmarks from the village. Depending on whether you want to focus on nature, outdoor activities, animals, or local history, you will find different ways to shape your trip plans.

Iron-Rich Water and Mineral Springs

Kelechyn has boreholes from which iron-rich water flows continuously, turning a stream red. The color connects the boreholes directly to a visible feature of the landscape.

The “Kelechyn” mineral spring produces naturally carbonated Narzan-type mineral water with a high iron content. For travelers interested in water, this offers a different point of interest from the red stream: at the spring, the focus is on the characteristics of the mineral water; at the stream, it is on the visible coloring caused by iron-rich water. The spring water and the stream water are both iron-rich.

The “Kelechynskyi” mineral spring is on the outskirts of Kelechyn, 150 meters from the Volovets–Mizhhiria road. The “Kelechynskyi Kvas” mineral spring is also listed as a tourist destination.

Cycling and Animal Watching

A proposed route for the Bike-AcceNT cycling network includes a 4.8-kilometer section along the central road through Kelechyn to the turnoff for Richka. The route is a specific planning consideration for anyone who wants to include cycling in their trip; it is presented as a proposal.

The “Kelechyn” Ecopark is near the mineral spring. In its animal area, visitors can observe, feed, and pet llamas, alpacas, deer, roe deer, Highland cattle, mountain goats, sheep, ostriches, and rabbits; photography is also possible. If you are traveling with children and want to include animals in your plans, you can make the animal area a separate focus. If you plan to do any of these activities, check current visitor access in advance.

Architecture and Local History

The church in Kelechyn, dedicated to the Archangel Michael, was built in 1895. The village also has a wooden bell tower dating from the 19th century. The church has a precise year of construction, while the bell tower is dated more broadly to a century.

Kelechyn is considered the birthplace of Augustyn Voloshyn, president of Carpatho-Ukraine. A memorial plaque to him is located in the village. His birthplace and the memorial plaque give local history a biographical dimension, distinct from the architectural landmarks.

Choose a Holiday Apartment to Match Your Travel Focus

When looking for a holiday apartment in Kelechyn, two different location references can help: one mineral spring is on the outskirts of the village, while the proposed cycling route runs along the central road. If you are deciding between nature and cycling, compare the locations of specific accommodations with the focus you want for your trip.
