Niederwil, also known as Niederwil SO, is a village in the Lebern district of the canton of Solothurn and is located in the municipality of Riedholz. The village became part of the municipality of Riedholz in 2011; until 2010, Niederwil was an independent municipality.

Niederwil is approximately 5.5 kilometers north-northeast of Solothurn as the crow flies.

Niederwil is situated at an elevation of 545 meters above sea level on the lower southern slope of the Jura, at the foot of the Chamben, in the Unterleberberg region.

The local landscape encompasses the valley basin of the Gummenbach between the Weissenstein range to the north and the Verena range to the south.

The Siggern stream flows into the Gummenbach below the village.
