Hiking

The Guggeli Circuit is a winter circular trail on the sunny side of the valley. It leads through forests, past streams, across pastureland and to viewpoints. This makes it particularly appealing to travellers who want to explore varied landscapes on foot in winter.

The route begins in Wil, which is described as the oldest part of Muotathal, and passes the St. Joseph Monastery. Franciscan nuns still live and work there. The monastery has a documented connection to General Suvorov's campaign of 1799.

Muotathal is a municipality in the district and canton of Schwyz. It lies at an altitude of around 610 metres above sea level and borders the cantons of Uri and Glarus.

By road, Muotathal can be reached from the A4 via Schwyz. The Muota hiking route can be accessed by bus via the Nuschlau and Vordere Brücke stops.
