Water and Play
The Place de jeux de Gorgier offers play equipment for younger and older children, as well as a hammock, benches and a picnic table. It is located in green surroundings above, between the villages of Chez-le-Bart and Gorgier. The beach and play area offer different focal points, allowing you to choose between water and play depending on the theme you want for the day.
Culture and History
The bathing pavilion in Chez-le-Bart was built in 1907 after a fire destroyed the previous building. The municipality of Gorgier moved the bathing pavilion to the port of Chez-le-Bart and had it restored in 2000. It stands on a wooden platform in the shape of a pagoda and contains separate changing rooms for men and women.
The Lavoir de Brénaz in Gorgier is a protected public washhouse; it was placed under protection on 16 March 1987. The rectangular building has eight oak posts on bevelled limestone bases and a two-part cement basin. The lavoir was first mentioned in the community's accounts in 1668, and it was restored in 1986.
Château de Gorgier is a picturesque neo-Gothic residence on a rocky promontory surrounded by two streams and overlooking the lake. The three Pierres du Guénégou are partially toppled menhirs at the foot of a possibly artificially constructed mound.
Paths and Menhirs
La ballade des Menhirs du Devens is 5 km long, takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, and is classified as easy. The forest roads and paths are not suitable for pushchairs. From Gorgier-Saint-Aubin station, the route can be reached by train and postal bus; from the station, it is 2 km or approximately 40 minutes on foot.
The sights along the route include the Menhir du Pré-Devens, the Menhirs tronqué and the Grand menhir de la forêt du Devens. The route length, approximate duration and condition of the forest paths provide concrete points of comparison for planning your own day.
For a day in Gorgier, these impressions can be given different emphasis: the beach represents water and peace, the Place de jeux a break with opportunities for play, the menhir trail exercise in the forest, and the bathing pavilion, lavoir, château and menhirs historic discoveries. The differences mentioned help structure the day according to the desired activity and available time frame.
