Auvernier-La Saunerie is one of the Neolithic pile-dwelling sites in the canton of Neuchâtel that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps”. The Auvernier-Les Graviers site contains four successive settlement phases dating back to the Neolithic period.

The village of Auvernier is listed in the Swiss Inventory of Cultural Property of National Significance (ISOS). The historic village of Auvernier invites visitors to stroll through its small cobbled lanes and past its elegant vintners’ houses; old fountains stand along the cobbled lanes.
