Landscape

History

Tinizong is mentioned as early as a Roman road register from the 3rd century. In the Middle Ages, the village held a prominent position as the head of Port Tinzen and as a transshipment point on the Septimer and Julier routes.

From the municipal boundary, the valley road descends by 13 metres over approximately 2 kilometres to the village of Rona at 1,410 m above sea level. It then climbs 180 metres over a prehistoric landslide step to Tinizong at 1,232 m. After that, it descends by a further 25 metres over the next 2 kilometres.
