Norrköping combines impressive industrial heritage with museums, nature experiences and excursions to the Östergötland archipelago. The Industrial Landscape is particularly distinctive: it is regarded as a historical document of its time, encompasses Norrköping’s central areas and connects many notable buildings with a range of activities.

Culture

The Arbetets museum is located in the Industrial Landscape, in the listed Strykjärnet building, a former cotton mill. The museum’s exhibitions explore work and everyday life in the past, present and future. Another collection is preserved by the Norrköping City Museum: its hundreds of thousands of objects include items, machines, photographs, films, archival material and sound recordings.

Various historical facets can also be seen outside the Industrial Landscape. Folkparken was completed in 1895 and laid out in an English Romantic style with winding paths, naturalistic plantings and spacious lawns. Löfstad Castle offers guided tours with knowledgeable guides dressed in period costume.

Nature

For walks and longer routes, options include the approximately 4-kilometre Abborrebergsleden and the 9.6-kilometre Marmorbruksleden. Marmorbruksleden also offers views over Bråkviken. Kopparholmarna presents a different side of the landscape: the area is a municipal nature reserve in the archipelago and has a natural sandy beach. A nature exhibition is located there near the landing stage.

Kolmården Wildlife Park is also among the nature-oriented attractions. Nature conservation, research and education are among its most important responsibilities. The park offers animal encounters, the Hope dolphin show, the Safari cable car, the Wings bird-of-prey show and demonstrations of elephant training.

Experiences

Visualiseringscenter C is a digital science centre with interactive exhibitions. The dome features dome shows and interactive 3D presentations; admission to all exhibitions at Visualiseringscenter C is free. Alongside the cultural and historical collections, this provides an explicitly digital exhibition experience in Norrköping.

The facilities at Sörsjöns Äventyrspark offer more active pursuits. There are 22 high-rope courses with a total of 157 obstacles at heights of 2 to 20 metres. There is also a 375-metre zip line over the entire lake.

Water and regional cuisine

Arkö Kajak offers kayak rental and uses Arkösund as a starting point for paddling opportunities throughout the Östergötland archipelago. In Arkösund, visitors can also buy smoked fish at the quay. Maritime activities and regional food offerings thus come together directly on the coast.

For travel within Norrköping and throughout Östergötland, Östgötatrafiken offers buses, trams, trains and boats.
