Holiday apartment in Lindesberg – culture, nature and water

Lindesberg combines visible industrial history with art in the town centre and a variety of experiences in nature. Stripa Gruvmiljö is a cultural and historical monument with preserved interiors and unique architecture; Stripa gruva has been a listed building since 2007. Culture and history

A walking tour through central Lindesberg takes you to nine historic sites. Pictures, texts and an audio guide introduce each stop. Blombergska gården is also home to a detailed model of Lindesberg at a scale of 1:220, showing what the town looked like in the past. The idea for Paint the City was conceived in 2014 and quickly received support from property owners, Lindesberg Municipality and more than 35 local businesses.

Siggebohyttans bergsmansgård preserves a main building whose construction began around 1790 and which contains 14 rooms and 3 kitchens. Families will find green spaces, natural-material play equipment available to borrow and a view of Lake Usken. Löa hytta has a blast furnace, a charcoal-burner's hut, bridges, a forge and a waterwheel; iron has been produced there since the 15th century. The site is open exclusively for booked guided tours, which explain its history and iron production.

Stripa Gruvmiljö also offers guided tours of Swedish mining and industrial history in summer. The grounds of Stripa gruva are also home to Stripabryggeriet, a craft brewery with a restaurant. At the Frövifors Paper Mill Museum, visitors can make their own paper in the handmade paper workshop on certain days in summer.

Nature and trails

Munkhyttan Nature Reserve protects two butterfly species that are endangered in Europe: the scarce large blue and the marsh fritillary. Tempelbacken is a 10-hectare nature reserve with species-rich deciduous woodland and habitats for many bird species. Malingsbo-Kloten is even larger and is one of Sweden's largest nature reserves. Visitors can hike, paddle, fish, cycle and take part in guided tours there; the first section of the Bergslagsleden trail also runs through the area.

The Lindessjön runt loop trail is 7 kilometres long and can be extended to 8.5 kilometres. As a hike of approximately 8 kilometres, it can be started and finished in central Lindesberg and connects the town, rural surroundings, nature reserves and lakeshores. Along the loop trail there are seven rest areas where visitors can barbecue or have a picnic.

Activities and experiences

From the new kayak station at Loppholmen next to the arena in Lindesberg, visitors can explore Lindessjön, Bottenån and Råsvalen by kayak. The MS Råsvalen boat tours depart from Kyrkbryggan below Lindesbergs stadshotell, travel through Bottenån to Lake Råsvalen and return.

Lindesbergs Golfbana is an 18-hole golf course within walking distance of the town centre. Another short route is the digital quiz walk X-rundan, also known as Linderundan. It follows the first section of the Lindessjön runt loop trail from Lindesbergs Arena to Carlssons udde and is 2.7 kilometres long in one direction.

At Klotenlägrets klätterpark, a climbing course leads to 14 stations high up in the trees. There is also a giant swing and the opportunity to step out into the air from a height of 8 metres.

Tåg i Bergslagen provides access to the centres of Lindesberg, Frövi and Storå. Örebro Länstrafik also offers direct bus connections between Örebro and Lindesberg.
