Pålsboda: Culture, Routes and Special Experiences
Accommodation in Pålsboda
Pålsboda combines local history with active experiences and excursions in the surrounding area. A 94-metre-long pump track on Norra Bangatan, the historic hillfort of Tarstaborg and the 38-kilometre Pålsbodarundan cycling tour offer different options for planning your trip. This allows you to tailor your stay according to your interests, with exercise, culture or family-friendly activities.
Active days for different interests
The pump track in Pålsboda is suitable for all age groups and levels of experience. Bicycles of all sizes, kick bikes, inline skates and skateboards can be used on the track. This makes it easy to plan a visit when family members have different equipment or preferences. The exact length of 94 metres also makes the facility a clearly defined destination for an active break.
If you prefer a longer route, you can consider the Pålsbodarundan cycling tour. It is 38 kilometres long and starts in Svennevad or Pålsboda. The historic attraction Tarsta fornborg lies along the route. For shorter days of activity, Pålsboda also has a 2.5-kilometre exercise trail that starts at the sports ground. A 7-kilometre cross-country ski trail runs around Tarsta, adding a winter route option to the selection.
Hillfort, views and local history
Tarstaborg lies between Sköllersta and Pålsboda and is the largest hillfort in Örebro County. The site is protected as an archaeological monument and is subject to the Swedish Heritage Conservation Act (1988:950). From Tarstaborg, the view extends over the plain to the north, the Kilsbergen hills and Kvarntorpshögen to the west. Anyone interested in landscapes and history will find an excursion destination here where both subjects come together directly, without having to limit your stay to just one type of leisure activity.
Pålsboda’s development is also closely linked to railway history. The Västra stambanan railway was routed through Pålsbodaåsen at the so-called Brötabacken in 1862. The Pålsboda–Finspång narrow-gauge railway was built in 1874 and extended to Örebro in 1901. Pålsboda developed as one of four localities in Hallsberg Municipality in connection with the construction of the Västra stambanan railway. These dates provide a concrete framework for the local history and also make Pålsboda interesting for visitors interested in cultural history.
Church, bathing spot and local traditions
The church in Pålsboda was completed in 1936. Its design was clearly inspired by the church in Sköllersta. Anyone wishing to gather different cultural impressions during their stay can include this building in their personal selection, along with the protected hillfort or the railway history.
Outside Pålsboda, the family-friendly bathing spot Tjärudden is located at Hällebosjön. For a stay with a variety of ideas for each day, this offers the opportunity to combine water-based activities, a cycling tour, local history and active time. Another special feature is Semestergasen, an annual moped rally in Pålsboda. Participants answer questions and complete tasks along a five-mile route. Semestergasen starts and ends at Folkets park in Pålsboda.
For Pålsboda Förr och Nu, visits during the summer season from June to August are scheduled from Thursday to Sunday, 11:00 to 16:00; other times are possible by arrangement. When choosing a holiday apartment in Pålsboda, you can therefore organise your days according to your preferred focus: active routes, historic destinations, a bathing spot or an appointment with a local connection.
