Hultsfred combines music history with trails through historic landscapes, lakes and regional nature. This is particularly vivid in “Hultsfred – The Walk”: around 40 physical signs form a circular trail starting at the Klubben venue. The physical circular trail is located by Lake Hulingen on the historic festival grounds in Hultsfred. The “Hultsfred – The Walk” app additionally offers music, film clips, facts and experiences using augmented reality technology, which can be experienced on site in Hultsfred.
Culture and history
A roughly 2 km trail with 24 information boards runs around Hultsfreds Slätt. Slätt was an important military training ground and is connected with the storytelling worlds of Vilhelm Moberg and Astrid Lindgren. The former provisions store at Hultsfreds Slätt, which the soldiers called “Fläskförrådet”, now houses the “Rätt & Slätt” exhibition about life on Slätt.
The Hultsfreds-Hus Museum offers an insight into the history of Hultsfreds-Hus: on display are house models, house catalogues, pictures and drawings. The museum also features offices with drawing tables and office machines from the 1940s to the 1980s. Svenskt Rockarkiv focuses on another area of culture. The “Home Sweet Hultsfred” exhibition is dedicated to the history of the Rockparty association and the Hultsfred Festival. It contains pictures, films, posters and anecdotes from the period when the Hultsfred Festival was at the height of its importance in Sweden.
Crafts and cuisine
On Norra Oskarsgatan in Hultsfred, Vemod keramik has a shop, showroom and studio in the Blåklinten building. Vemod keramik also accepts enquiries about introductory ceramics courses. For local dining, there is the Mat restaurant in Hultsfred, which serves Swedish-style home cooking every day, prepared from scratch.
Nature
Hulingsryd lies in the wider area around Hultsfred. The municipal nature reserve is located in Hultsfred Municipality and encompasses a varied landscape with numerous different habitats.
On two wheels
The bicycle rail trolley tour on the narrow-gauge railway starts in Hultsfred and runs 11.5 km each way towards the Målilla sanatorium. Around 5 km from Hultsfred, the route passes through Ödhult. There, the route includes a rest area with a coffee table, litter bin and ball court for children. The bicycle rail trolley route also crosses Lake Hesjön and follows its shore near Målilla.
For longer cycling routes, there are Hultsfred Gravel and Hulingen Gravel. Hultsfred Gravel is a 73.4 km cycling route that follows pleasant roads southwards past numerous lakes. Hulingen Gravel runs around Lake Hulingen in Hultsfred, following gravel roads through several nature reserves and along lakes.
On foot
Lönnebergaleden includes one section from Hästhagsgölen to Hultsfred and another section from Hultsfred to Lönneberga. Along Lönnebergaleden, there are historic environments and archaeological remains. At the same time, Lönnebergaleden crosses the northern part of Hultsfred Municipality and connects Ostkustleden with Sevedeleden.
