Huskvarna combines its location on the southern shore of Lake Vättern with industrial history, historic sites and varied trails. Anyone planning a trip can combine different interests here: walks by the water, short and longer circular hikes, insights into the development of industry and cultural-historical discoveries. When choosing a holiday apartment or holiday home, the desired mix of nature, culture and active excursions is therefore particularly relevant.

Nature and views around Huskvarna

The Huskvarnabergen nature reserve combines natural, geological and cultural values with outdoor experiences. Brunstorps gård is located in the northern part of Huskvarna within this nature reserve. The farm is open to everyone at all times and also serves as the starting and finishing point of the Brunstorpsleden trail. The circular hiking trail is 3.9 kilometres long and has an elevation difference of 100 metres. At the summit of Brunstorpsberget, there are several picnic areas with panoramic views of Lake Vättern.

A shorter alternative is the Pustaleden trail in central Huskvarna. The circular hiking trail is 1.8 kilometres long and also overcomes 100 metres of elevation. Its route passes through lush deciduous forests as well as protected beech trees and 300-year-old oaks. Anyone wishing to compare different trail lengths will find two clearly distinct options for planning the day. The Brunstorpsleden can also be reached by bus route 121, which stops at the Huskvarna Brunstorps gård stop.

The waterscape also characterises the area. The Huskvarna waterfalls overcome an elevation difference of 120 metres between the heights of Stensholm and Kvarnbron. A walk along the five-kilometre-long Huskvarnaåns promenad is more relaxing. In summer, there is a kiosk and kayak rental at Oset bathing area. Together with the heated outdoor Brunstorpsbadet swimming pool, which includes a 50-metre swimming pool, a teaching pool, a paddling pool and a water slide with a catch pool, this creates various opportunities for a day by or in the water.

Industrial history and historic sites

The Husqvarna Museum presents 400 years of industrial history across 2,400 square metres. This makes a visit an independent cultural stop, especially if you would like to learn about the history of the area not only through buildings and landscapes. Other historic attractions include Smedbyn. The red cottages were built in the mid-18th century for the smiths who worked here. They are protected as historic monuments and still stand in their original locations.

Huskvarna kyrka was designed by Birger Damstedt and built in 1907–1908. At Huskvarna kyrkogård, you can take part in a circular tour and visit graves of cultural-historical interest. Garpa Skans, an archaeological monument above ground dating from the 14th century, is also located in the northern part of the cemetery. Anyone interested in medieval history can also explore the remains of Rumlaborg. The fortification was built by Albert of Mecklenburg in the 1360s; what remains are an irregularly shaped hill in the central area, two ramparts and three ditches.

These different forms of events complement the historic attractions with a vibrant cultural side of the area.

Choose the right location for your accommodation

When searching for a holiday apartment in Huskvarna, you can base your choice on the type of stay you are planning: A cultural stay has different priorities than days spent on circular hikes, walks or enjoying the water. Events at Huskvarna Folkets Park may also play a role in planning your trip. This allows you to align your choice of accommodation with your desired daily programme without limiting the trip to a single activity.
