El Saler: Holiday apartments between dunes and the Albufera

The Devesa dunes in l'Albufera Natural Park form a distinctive, protected ecosystem on the European Mediterranean coast. The Casa Forestal de El Saler was built between 1906 and 1907 in the traditional Valencian style. Two plaques on its façade are recognised as Bien de Relevancia Local and date from the 18th century.

The Casa de la Demanà, also known as Casa de la Campaneta, is an 18th-century building in El Saler where auctions of hunting posts in the Albufera were held until the 20th century.

The coastal artillery battery of El Saler was built from reinforced concrete in 1938 and comprised two casemates with anti-aircraft machine guns. The El Saler bunker is a coastal artillery battery with an upper casemate and underground galleries covering an area of approximately 500 square metres.

The historic sites therefore differ in terms of their architectural form, historical period and documented function: Valencian architectural style and the Devesa forest stand alongside the use of hunting posts in the Albufera and military coastal fortification. The bunker's approximate area and its underground galleries are also part of this distinct historical focus.
