The 18th-century Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen is located in Barrio Lugar del Río, in the municipality of San Millán de la Cogolla. On the GR-93, the Ermita del Carmen in Lugar del Río is on the right-hand side of the road. The Cueva del Santo in Lugar del Río has also been selected as a stop on a tourist route around the municipality.
The Fiestas in honour of the Virgen del Carmen in Lugar del Río are held on 16 July. The events described include preparations on the eve of the feast day, a Mass and a procession. These cultural connections complement the industrial history and walking routes with local history and religious tradition.
