Juan Sáenz de Alvarado and his wife María de Velasco founded the El Ribero majorat in 1531. Landscape

The Dehesas Montijanas MTB route begins in the recreational and green area of El Ribero de Montija by the Cerneja River. It leads through the Dehesa de Villasante with its centuries-old oaks. At Monte Edilla, it follows a long, winding path through a dense oak forest along the Trueba River. The ascent to Monte de Bedón leads through pine groves and high-altitude meadows. The route also crosses the extensive green meadows of Peña Horrero and follows a path overlooking the Lagunas de Antuzanos. It reaches its endpoint via paths between the Trueba River and the fruit orchards along its banks.

For your planning, the route can be differentiated by forest, open areas, higher elevations and proximity to water. The varied landscapes make it possible to sort personal priorities between active sections of the route and quiet nature observation, without reducing the route to just one single impression.

Surrounding Area
