Coast and Paths

Corme-Porto showcases its coast with a promenade overlooking the sea that runs from O Osmo Beach via Arnela Beach to the town of Corme. For a short walk by the water, allow for approximately 200 m of walking distance along this route.

The promenade connects the two beaches of O Osmo and Arnela with the town area of Corme.

The recreational area at Cabo Roncudo has stone benches and stone tables. From there, exceptional views extend across the sea and towards the cliffs of Cabo Roncudo. Faro Roncudo and Laxe Beach are also part of the same vista.

Cabo Roncudo is located in the parish of Corme Porto. The immediate surroundings of the cape can be reached by bus, car and on foot. The PR-G 148 hiking trail begins on the seafront promenade of O Porto de Corme.

Culture and History

Faro Roncudo was built on granite rocks in 1920. The area around Corme-Porto is also home to Pedra da Serpe, a stone cross made of granite. The cultural monument rests on an unworked stone into which a snake has been engraved.

The snake motif is directly engraved into the unworked stone and forms part of the cultural monument’s distinctive design. Granite characterises both the lighthouse’s location and the material of the stone cross.

The Museo de Arte Contemporánea Costa da Morte houses the complete body of paintings by Julio Pujales Rivas. The museum also contains an extensive collection of contemporary art. It provides access for people with reduced mobility.

For guided group visits to the Museo de Arte Contemporánea Costa da Morte, the electronic administration of Ponteceso offers an application procedure. This procedure also applies to school activities at the museum.

Festivals and Local Specialities

The Festa do Percebe do Roncudo takes place in O Porto de Corme. It is held during the first half of July. Another celebration takes place in Corme-Porto on 16 July.

This celebration includes a mass and a maritime procession. Regional dances and music are also part of the festival.

Punta do Roncudo is known for the quality of its delicious goose barnacles. The large quantity of these goose barnacles is also part of the area’s characteristic identity.

Routes and Getting There

The area around Pedra da Serpe can be reached by car or bus. The cultural monument itself is accessible on foot. An access road passes close to Balarés Beach and the monument dedicated to Our Lady of the Lighthouse.

It then runs via Corme Aldea down to Corme Porto.
