Discover Ames: Trails, Nature and Culture
Hiking and landscapes
The Ruta de Riamonte is 7 km long and designed as a circular trail of moderate difficulty. The Riamonte mills are located in a riverside forest among ponds and small cascades. Throughout the summer, the mills operated using water dammed up in the Pozo. The mills were also part of a communally organised way of life. Thus, this place brings together the water-shaped landscape with the mills' former use and their communal significance.
The Mirador do Monte de San Marcos is located at an altitude of 343 metres. From there, a panoramic view extends across the valley of the River Sar and the surrounding comarca.
The Senda Verde is a 12 km-long linear trail of moderate difficulty. It connects O Milladoiro and Bertamiráns. At several points along its route, the Senda Verde can be joined or left.
The Ruta do rego dos Pasos runs along the stream's left bank. It can be walked. The trail is very flat and easy to walk. Within a few minutes, it leads from the urban environment into the natural landscape. The outward route is 2 km long, as is the return route. The temporary access point is on Calle del Lodeiro in Bertamiráns.
