Pujarnol: Sant Patllari, Dolmen and Torre de Pujarnol

Geographical location

Pujarnol lies on the ascent to the Serra de Sant Patllari. The church of Sant Cebrià de Pujarnol can be reached via the road to Pujarnol and Rocacorba. This road branches off at the beginning of the road from Banyoles to Olot. The connection from Banyoles to Olot leads via Mieres and Santa Pau. After five kilometres, you reach the foot of the church.

The Route de Pujarnol a Sant Patllari starts at the Església de Sant Cebrià de Pujarnol. Its destination is the Ermita de Sant Patllari. The route then leads back again. The BTT Ruta 4: Pujada a Sant Patllari starts in Pujarnol and runs towards Puig de Sant Patllari. It initially follows asphalt before the ascent begins.

Nature and trails

The Mirador de Sant Patllari is located on a 646-metre-high mountain in the municipality of Porqueres. From there, views extend across the comarca. Sant Patllari is a summit in the vicinity of Pujarnol. Rocamirall is also a summit in the vicinity of Pujarnol. Puig Suquet is a summit in the vicinity of Pujarnol. Puig Bataller is likewise a summit in the vicinity of Pujarnol.

Culture and history

The Torre de Pujarnol was formerly a castle or fortified house. It still has two towers at opposite corners. One of these towers is the southeast tower. It has three storeys. At its base, it retains a loophole.

The Dolmen de Pujarnol, also called Dolmen de les Closes, is the only currently known dolmen in the municipality of Porqueres. The dolmen lies in the forest beside the road to the settlement of Puig Surís. The burial mound that originally covered the dolmen is still visible. All the stone slabs are made of local sandstone.

The Ermita de Sant Patllari is a small chapel. It has a single rectangular nave. Its structure ends in a semicircular apse.

A nave refers to the central interior space of a church; in the Ermita de Sant Patllari, this space is rectangular. The semicircular apse forms the concluding part of the structure. At the dolmen, the visible mound and the stone slabs made of local sandstone are among the preserved features.
