Rising above the town centre of Vallehermoso is Roque Cano, a volcanic pinnacle. Around 1,300 hectares, roughly one third of Garajonay National Park, belong to the municipality of Vallehermoso. Nature

La Laguna Grande offers a walk amid a humid forest. One route connects sections between terraced fields with areas of Monteverde forest and viewpoints. Vallehermoso Beach is a pebble beach located three kilometres from the town centre. The Parque Marítimo de Vallehermoso has two freshwater pools.
This means that different described waterfront locations can be considered alongside one another: The beach is characterised by its pebbles as a natural shoreline and by its distance from the town centre, while the Parque Marítimo has the clearly defined feature of its two freshwater pools. Los Órganos adds a protected volcanic cliff to the coastal area, with its own access possible only by boat.
Culture and Tradition
Silbo Gomero was particularly important in Vallehermoso for centuries and was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2009. The historic centre of Vallehermoso is characterised by traditional whitewashed houses and wooden elements.
The San Juan bonfires take place on the night of 23 June and are recognised as a “Fiesta de Interés Turístico de Canarias”. In the village of El Cercado, the Centro de Interpretación de la Alfarería Tradicional de Las Loceras presents the traditional techniques of the female ceramic makers, carried out without a potter’s wheel. In the village of Alojera, the Centro de Interpretación de la Miel de Palma explains the traditional extraction of guarapo and its processing into palm honey.
