Culture and History
In the lower part of Abornikano, the building El Molino or La Fábrica has been preserved. It is located near the building of the ironworks. The significant Abornikano ironworks was in operation from 1730.
Abornikano once had a palace that belonged to the territory ruled by the Ayala family. The parish church of San Clemente is a modern building constructed over an older predecessor. Its portico has a door with a flattened arch and two round-arched openings.
Several different historical references therefore stand side by side in the village: the former church in the Barrio de Arriba, the older predecessor beneath the present-day parish church, and the traces of the palace and ironworks connected with the history of Abornikano. El Molino or La Fábrica refers to a preserved building in the lower part of the village, while the ironworks has been documented as part of the local economic history since 1730.
