The Convent de Son Carrió also reflects a history of earlier uses: it was built between 1905 and 1915 over a predecessor building dating from 1899. That building had already served as a primary school for girls and as a Sunday school for adult women. The building’s history therefore extends beyond the construction of the convent; its earlier history also includes educational provision for girls and adult women.

Railway history and Fira Ramadera

Today, the Museu del Ferrocarril is housed in a large railway warehouse in the western part of Son Carrió’s station complex. The museum site offers a distinct focus alongside the religious buildings and former educational buildings, adding railway history to the town’s points of interest.

The Fira Ramadera de Son Carrió offers a different reason to visit. It has been held every year on the second Sunday in May since 1992. Each year it has a different theme, connected with typical Balearic products, crafts or gastronomy. The date remains the same in the annual calendar, while the theme changes.
