Circular Trails, Landscapes and Longer Routes

The PR-MA 4 Sa Font de Sa Cometa circular hiking route runs entirely through the public Galatzó estate in Es Capdellà. It starts at the estate’s main house and leads through the Comellar de na Llaneres to the Sa Cometa spring. Along the way, you pass terraced fields, holm oak groves and pine forests; on the return leg, the route passes through the Bosc de Sa Madona. It is considered easy to follow and suitable for families. The spring, forest and terraced fields are the specific scenic landmarks along this loop.

A second easy loop is the PR-MA 2 La Vall Verda. Its starting point is next to the public car park on Carrer de les Platges in Es Capdellà. The circular hiking route passes through Aleppo pine forests, farmland and holm oak groves. This gives it a different landscape focus from the loop to the spring. For longer hiking plans, there are four routes on the Galatzó estate with a combined length of 35 kilometres. The estate is accessible from Es Capdellà. Another connection is the Es Capdellà–Estellencs dry-stone route, which runs between Es Capdellà in Calvià and Estellencs. This means you can choose between loop trails starting in the village and a route connecting two villages when planning your trip.

Archaeological Traces and Traditional Water Engineering

The Ses Sínies area contains a Bronze Age archaeological site, as well as a naviform structure. These features make Ses Sínies a specific destination for anyone interested in the area’s early history as well as its hiking trails.

The Sa Cometa spring is an example of traditional Mallorcan water engineering. Since the Islamic period, its water was channelled through qanats and underground tunnels to the estate’s buildings, supplying them until the 19th century. On a hike along the PR-MA 4, the landscape and a historic water-supply system come together at the same named landmark.

Calvià as a Regional Context
