Es Domingos Grans and Es Domingos Petits lie at the end of a wide sea inlet and are separated by a rocky promontory. It can be crossed on foot or by swimming. The two beaches are among the three beaches of Cales de Mallorca; Cala Antena marks the boundary of the Cales de Mallorca urbanisation.

Cala Antena is a narrow beach between vegetation-covered cliffs. The sandy beach is about 30 metres long and extends more than 60 metres into the mouth of the stream that formed it. This distinctive coastal feature differs from the wide cove at Es Domingos. The character of the three beaches can thus be described by their location and shape, without reducing them to a single coastal landscape.

Water Activities and Getting Around

The cliffs and seabed in the Cales de Mallorca area are suitable for diving. This means that, alongside the beaches, the local offering includes an underwater activity; conditions may vary. The Es Domingos shore is 150 metres long and just as wide. There is a lifeguard service on the sand, whose availability may vary by season.

Es Domingos is also accessible by public transport; check current services before travelling. From Cales de Mallorca, the route to Es Domingos and the turn-off are signposted. Parking is available nearby. Check the local signs and parking options before setting off, as this information may change.

Manacor as a Wider Destination

The wider destination of Manacor offers other points of interest: an active route, urban history, architecture, a museum and markets. The Vía Verde begins in Manacor. Its 29-kilometre route follows the former railway line that connected Manacor and Artà. It is suitable for walkers and cyclists of all ability levels.

The Rafa Nadal Museum is located in the Rafa Nadal Academy complex in Manacor. An admission ticket covers Rafael Nadal’s sporting career, important trophies he has won and interactive sports experiences. This adds a sporting-history theme to the regional offering alongside the coast.

The Church of Nostra Senyora dels Dolors in Manacor is a single-nave Neo-Gothic basilica with chapels between the buttresses. Its bell tower is the tallest building in the city and is called Torre Rubí. Torre del Palau also tells part of the city’s story: it is the only surviving element of Manacor’s former royal palace, built by Jaume II in the 14th century. Torre del Palau houses a permanent exhibition on the building’s history, its earlier study, and its renovation and restoration. Check the current exhibition before visiting.

Other historical landmarks include Sa Bassa in the centre of Manacor, surrounded by buildings dating from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, and Torre de ses Puntes. The tower house of a fortification and rural manor dating from the 13th or 14th century survives there.

Markets also help you get your bearings in the town: the weekly market takes place at Plaça Ramon Llull on Mondays from 9 am to 1 pm. At Plaça de la Constitució, a market selling fruit and vegetables runs from 9 am to 1 pm, Monday to Saturday. Market hours may change; check the current schedule before visiting.
