La Corte: Fortifications, Religious Buildings and the SL-A 63 Circular Route
In August, La Corte holds festivities in honour of the Virgen del Rosario. In July, La Corte celebrates the Fiesta de la Virgen del Rosario, which includes the Traída del Chopo. During this event, participants fell a poplar tree and bring it to the church. The patron-saint festivities of the Virgen del Rosario also include the release of vaquillas, meaning young cattle, in El Chaparral.
Culture
Before the local festival, the novenas are sung through the hamlet at five o’clock in the morning. Bells call the residents to church, and the singing passes through several stations across the settlement. The Fiesta de la Virgen del Rosario is a traditional festival custom of La Corte de Santa Ana. The Novena de la Corte is an intangible tradition of La Corte de Santa Ana.
The Romería de Fátima is celebrated in La Corte de Santa Ana on the second weekend of May in the La Morona area. The three periods mentioned—the second weekend of May, July and August—can be clearly distinguished from one another when planning dates. The preparation of prestines is also a local culinary tradition of La Corte de Santa Ana la Real.
Religious Buildings
The chapel of the Romería de Fátima in La Corte de Santa Ana was built in 2002 with the support of the entire settlement. The Ermita de la Virgen de Fátima has an entrance porch with arcades, crowned by a masonry bell gable.
The Iglesia de la Virgen del Rosario is considered the most important monument in La Corte. The Iglesia de La Corte is protected as a historic building under Grade II protection with structural protection. The church or hermitage of La Corte is a small single-nave building in the centre of the settlement, with a distinctive portal and bell tower.
Hiking
The SL-A 63 circular hiking trail begins in La Corte de Santa Ana and runs towards Las Gasparas and Alcornoquellano. Cork oaks, holm oaks, strawberry trees, rockroses and junipers grow along the trail. The SL-A 63 is 4,270 metres long, designed as a circular route and signposted; the stated walking time is 65 minutes. The route length and walking time provide two separate details for personal day planning. The vegetation information supplements the route data with specific features of the trail, while the directional information indicates the course between the named locations and completes the route description.
Trip Planning
When choosing a holiday apartment in La Corte, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions provide three different points of reference.
Further Experiences
An adventure park with 19 activities across two courses was also designed for Alcornoquellano. The courses were intended to run through a pine forest and include, among other things, walkways, suspended tree trunks and zip lines.
