When comparing holiday apartments in Mecina-Bombarón, you can compare travel dates, room categories and cancellation conditions side by side on the offer pages. Nature, local history, photography, literature and festival culture can be considered as separate areas of focus.

You can sort the different topics by type of route, distance or date. Different comparison points make personal planning clear without prescribing a fixed order.

Nature and Trails

The trails offer views of dense woodland and centuries-old chestnut trees. Along a route beside the irrigation channels, the paths pass gorges with clear water and springs with acidic water.

One route runs for 5 km through the Sierra landscape. A hiking trail connects Mecina-Bombarón and Yegen via the Camino Real de las Hoyas and crosses a Roman bridge. The hiking trail begins in the upper part of Mecina-Bombarón, in the Plaza Vieja district.

The different types of route and the distance can be considered separately when planning your trip. Landscape views and historical references to the routes also provide distinct areas of focus. The information can also be read according to the character of each route: the 5-km stretch through the Sierra specifies a distance, the canal route draws attention to water and springs, and the connection to Yegen highlights the historic course of the Camino Real. Together with the starting point in the upper Plaza Vieja district, this creates different points of orientation without combining the routes into a single experience.

Culture and History

The parish church of San Miguel Arcangel dates from the middle of the 18th century. It has a rectangular floor plan, rounded arches and a gabled roof covered with Arabic tiles.

Mecina-Bombarón has a permanent photography exhibition about everyday life in the Alpujarra by Rafael Vilchez. It is located in the lower rooms of Mecina-Bombarón Town Hall.

Mecina-Bombarón preserves the old bridge of the Camino Real, which connected Almería and Granada; its Roman origin is partly attributed to it.

Those wishing to explore cultural topics in different levels of depth can place architectural, photographic, historical and literary references side by side separately.

As part of the municipal project “El Pueblo Libro”, Mecina-Bombarón, Yegen, El Golco and Montenegro are connected through literary elements such as murals, book fountains and literature-inspired hiking trails.

Festivals and Gastronomy

The San Miguel patron saint celebrations in Mecina-Bombarón take place on 29 and 30 September. During the San Miguel celebrations, visitors are invited to enjoy migas alpujarreñas with grilled sardines.

The present-day Fiesta de las Castañas takes place on 1 November, dates back to 1986 and includes roasting chestnuts as well as singing and dancing.

For your planning, the festival dates can be read separately from the route information; activities and the calendar follow different comparison criteria.
