Rivero de Posadas: Culture, Routes and Remarkable Trees

Rivero de Posadas reveals several distinct facets: a combination of cultural history, music, natural details and routes. The place becomes particularly interesting where precisely identified architectural and landscape features meet festive events. Rather than offering a single, uniform sightseeing programme, it gives you the opportunity to combine different perspectives on the same place.

When comparing a holiday apartment in Rivero de Posadas, you can review travel dates, room categories and cancellation conditions side by side on the accommodation pages. For planning your activities, the local information can be organised by culture, routes, trees and seasonal events.

Culture

Since 2008, Rivero de Posadas has been included in the Andalusian Register of Contemporary Architecture because of its distinctive character.

Rivero de Posadas is an agricultural settlement in the former Vega area. Its project dates from 1953 and was designed by the architect Francisco Giménez de la Cruz, while the settlement was laid out in the 1960s.

One musical venue is the Peña Flamenca de Posadas, named after Luis de Córdoba; it is located on Calle Los Naranjos in Rivero de Posadas.

Artists who have performed at the Peña Flamenca Luis de Córdoba include Camarón de la Isla, Chano Lobato, Merengue de Córdoba, Chiquetete and Farruco.

A total of 28 flamenco festivals have taken place at the Peña Flamenca Luis de Córdoba.

Architecture and music offer two different approaches: one follows space and time, while the other focuses on names, performances and events.

Routes

A walking and cycling route connects Posadas with Rivero de Posadas.

The route follows the Cordel de Peñaflor, a former caliphate road and later a royal road between Córdoba and Seville, running parallel to the Guadalquivir.

The Remarkable Trees Route runs through the municipal area of Posadas, Rivero de Posadas and the surrounding countryside, showcasing five tree specimens: sandarac tree, red eucalyptus, wild olive, mulberry and casuarina.

The sandarac tree (Tetraclinis articulata) in Rivero de Posadas enjoys special urban-planning protection.

For your planning, the route options can be distinguished by activity and focus: one is explicitly described as a walking and cycling route, while the other route focuses on trees. The thematic emphasis also remains open: culture, exercise, nature and festival culture can be explored in different sequences.

Festivals

For planning by date, a spring event and another in December stand alongside each other as different occasions.

The Feria of Rivero de Posadas takes place around 15 May, the feast day of the patron saint San Isidro Labrador.

It includes a competition for paellas and desserts.

In December, the Asociación Cultural Belén Rivero de Posadas opened its large nativity scene to the public.
