Bujalance combines historical depth with olive-oil culture and active discoveries. Culture and History

The old town of Bujalance was declared a protected Historic-Artistic Site in 1983. The Castillo Alcazaba was built in the 10th century under the caliph Abd al-Rahman III. Its rectangular layout covers an area of approximately 3,000 square metres. Of the seven towers that once protected the complex, only two remain today: the Torre de la Mazmorra and the Torre de las Palomas.

The „El Hombre y su Medio“ Local Historical Museum combines a historical and archaeological exhibition with the history of the local environment. The parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is known as the „Catedral de la Campiña“ because of its considerable dimensions. Its tower is called the „Pisa de Andalucía“ because of its inclination.

The „Arquitectura del Sol“ invites visitors to contemplate Bujalance’s religious architecture. Its naves are aligned with the local horizon point of sunrise or sunset on the feast day of the respective church’s patron saint. The Monasterio de San José y Santa Teresa is one of the places of interest in Bujalance. The Semana Santa de Bujalance has been recognised since 2003 as a Fiesta de Interés Turístico Nacional de Andalucía.

The Alto Guadalquivir mountain-biking circuit is officially approved by the Andalusian Cycling Federation and comprises eight stages. The first stage runs from Bujalance to Cañete de las Torres. The eighth stage begins in El Carpio and ends in Bujalance. The different stage directions give the circuit two independent starting points for personal planning.

In the wider region around Bujalance are Cerrillo Blanco, an ancient site considered to be an Iberian necropolis, and Ategua, an archaeological site considered to be an ancient site.
