The Sevniška Mountain Trail is a circular hiking experience combining nature, views, cultural heritage and regional ties in Posavje. Culture
The Lutheran Cellar is considered the southernmost Protestant chapel in Europe and is known for its distinctive acoustics and frescoes. The remains of Ajdovski gradec lie a few kilometres from the centre of Sevnica and are associated with settlement in the area more than 1,500 years ago. At Sevnica Castle, stories from more than 700 years of castle history are told.
Sevnica’s old town reflects the character of the former town centre and the old city walls. A miniature world in Sevnica brings the history of the railway back to life. Sevnica has also preserved the heritage of one of the old crafts.
Traditions
Sevnica Castle is surrounded by a castle park and a vineyard. A nighttime lantern tour through Sevnica Castle conveys its history and introduces Countess Mathilde Arco Zinneberg. In the wine cellar of Sevnica Castle, visitors can taste the velvety flavour of the castle wine Grajska kri.
The Blaufränkisch Wine Festival takes place at Sevnica Castle in summer. Sevnica’s Salami Festival, the Salamiada, takes place in March. The two events create different seasonal highlights within the local festival traditions.
