Ormož Castle has been a centre for contemporary cultural developments since 1995. Its castle gallery presents exhibitions of contemporary art. Visitors can also view Classicist paintings in the castle featuring motifs created in 1810 by the Austrian painter Alois Gleichenperger.
Culture
The exhibitions “From Toy to Urn”, “Medieval Sculpture from the Ormož Area” and “The Potter’s Pot Praises Him” can be viewed at Grajska pristava Ormož. Grajska pristava Ormož preserves Tuscan stone columns, six pilasters and a barrel-vaulted hall on the ground floor. An orange tree, a tulip tree, a ginkgo and other exotic plants grow in Ormož Castle Park.
In the cultural sphere, different interests can coexist. A personal perspective need not be limited to a single form of expression or a fixed sequence. Those who want to look more closely can focus their attention on details; those seeking variety can mentally separate the topics from one another.
Nature
The Ormoške lagoons are an artificially created wetland covering 55 hectares in the Drava river ecosystem at Lake Ormož. The Ormoške lagoons nature reserve is an important breeding area for waterbirds; 29 breeding waterbird species have been recorded there.
The nature reserve is open to the public and features an educational trail with observation towers as well as a visitor centre; guided excursions are also offered. The infrastructure has also been adapted for groups with special needs.
When observing nature, perception, information and guided interpretation stand alongside one another as different approaches. Which form you prefer remains a matter of your personal planning.
Activities
A municipal guided tourism programme includes walks through Ormož Castle Park with its several-hundred-year-old trees. In good weather, pottery workshops take place in Ormož Castle Park or in the small castle courtyard of Ormož Castle; visitors can also work at the potter’s wheel there. The Ormoška mountain trail leads through the municipalities of Ormož, Sveti Tomaž and Središče ob Dravi. It is 67 kilometres long, difficult and has an elevation gain of 1,482 metres.
Walking, pottery and hiking can be compared as different types of activity. Weather, scope, difficulty and elevation gain are separate considerations; this leaves personal day planning open without reducing the activities to the same scale. Different forms of activity can therefore be considered separately.

For a holiday apartment in Ormož, travel dates, room category and cancellation policies can be considered as separate details. These points provide an objective basis for personal planning, while culture, nature, crafts, hiking and wine add different thematic accents to the stay.
Culinary Experiences
A municipal guided tourism programme combines Prlekija cuisine with high-quality local wines. The special wine “županovo vino” is produced in Ormož’s town vineyard; the Šipon grape variety is traditionally harvested there.
In the culinary themes, you can choose your own focus alongside culture, nature and physical activity. The different themes can be considered separately or combined in your personal planning. This area thus remains an independent approach without repeating the other focal points.
