Holiday apartment in Lendava: culture, trails and thermal water
Lendava Castle was first mentioned in 1192 in a deed of donation. The Galerija-Muzej Lendava is based in Lendava Castle. The gallery in Lendava Castle preserves the artistic heritage of artists from Lendava as well as a collection of artworks from traditional international artists' colonies.
Culture
One of the prominent historical sites is the present-day Church of Saint Catherine in Lendava, which was built between 1749 and 1751. A crypt is located beneath its presbytery, where members of the Esterházy family are buried.
Lendava Synagogue also combines history with present-day use. Construction began in 1866; alongside the synagogue in Maribor, it is one of only two surviving synagogues in Slovenia. Today it serves as an exhibition and event space.
The Museum of Bourgeois Life, Printing and Umbrella Making presents the development of Lendava's bourgeois society. It also displays 19th-century pharmacy furnishings from Lendava, old printing presses, as well as documents and newspapers printed in Dolnja Lendava. The museum thus brings together social development, crafts, and the history of medicine and printing.
Landscape and trails
The glazed observation deck of Vinarium Lendava offers views of the landscapes of Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia and Austria. The top of Vinarium Lendava can be reached via more than 240 prefabricated stairs or by lift. In addition to Vinarium Lendava, huts offer local culinary and oenological options.
Several signposted routes complement the landscape experiences. The Pot Vode in Nafte trail is an easy route that begins at Terme Lendava and offers 6.2 km and 3.2 km variants. The Esterházyjeva pot is a moderately difficult 7.7 km route and also begins at Terme Lendava. The Dolinska pot offers an easy hiking or cycling experience over 9.1 km.
Recreation
The thermal water of Terme Lendava is used for recreation and relaxation. The Terme Lendava complex also includes a floating mill on the Mura, a press, a wooden grain storehouse, a fossil oak and a dugout canoe. Thermal water and various historical or distinctive objects are thus brought together within the same thematic context.
Culinary experiences and events
The Katarinin sejem takes place every year on 25 November and revives Lendava's historic fair tradition. At the Katarinin sejem, handicrafts and local culinary products such as cheese, honey and meat products, lángos and cakes are offered.
For further cultural events, there is the Gledališka in koncertna dvorana Lendava. Its programme features contributions from the fields of theatre, music, visual arts and film.
