Holiday apartment in Radenci: mineral springs, cycle paths and culture

Radenci is considered a spa and holiday resort and is known for its mineral water. Nine mineral water springs are currently utilized in Radenci, with an average temperature of between 12 and 16 °C. These utilized mineral springs form the basis for spa tourism at Terme Radenci. The Healing Spring, known in Slovenian as “Zdravilni Vrelec”, is located immediately next to the spa. Karl Henn discovered the mineral springs in Radenci in 1833.

Healing Springs and Spa History

The history of the spa is reflected not only in the springs, but also in the places and topics associated with them. The neo-Gothic Chapel of Saint Anne was built in 1895 in Radenci’s spa park. On the “From Stone to Iron” educational trail, visitors can learn more about prehistoric times in connection with the later history of spa tourism in Radenci. The longer version of the educational trail is a 4 km circular route. The trail also features an iron-rich water spring. The CO2 bathing spring is the final point of the thematic “From Stone to Iron” educational trail and is located on the Mura River in a Natura 2000 area.

Water and Culture

“Svet doživetja vode” is a new sustainable tourism product in Radenci that presents the importance of water for the development of the town through sound, light, movement and storytelling. It includes the interactive projections “Water Dance” and “Water Symphony”. “Svet doživetja vode” also includes an updated film about the history of Radenska water and the development of Radenci. In this way, water is presented not only as a natural resource, but also as part of the town’s history.

Cycle Paths

Radenci and the surrounding area can be explored on signposted cycle paths of varying difficulty levels. The range extends from routes for family outings to more challenging tours. The “Radenski Krog” begins in Radenci and then leads via Turjanci, past a Roman-era burial mound, to Janžev Vrh and back to Radenci through Boračevo. The “Traminca” cycle route leads from Radenci over hills to Kapelski Vrh.

Family and Events

“Mačje mesto” is an integrated tourism product featuring sports, culture, culinary offerings, traditional customs and accommodation. It is aimed primarily at children and families. In the Municipality of Radenci’s cultural programme for 2026 to 2030, “Mačje mesto” is planned as one of the programmes held regularly each year. The 12th “Mačje mesto” Family Tourism Festival will take place from 19 to 20 June 2026 in Radenci and will be organized by the Municipality of Radenci. In addition, “Radensko poletje” offers summer evenings with music and open-air concerts in Radenci’s spa park.
