Lošonec combines an unusual landscape with marked trails and a remarkable architectural monument. The nature theme is complemented by the Roman Catholic Church of St. Anne and its Baroque-influenced furnishings.

Nature and geology

The Klokoč Nature Reserve is located in the cadastral area of Lošonec. It covers 21.59 hectares and was designated in 1996. The landscape there is characterised by limestone and dolomite ridges. The massif consists of an exposed body of basic volcanic rocks, known as melaphyres, and forms an unusual, meadow-like ridge complex on eruptive rock. The protected area includes grass and herb communities, shrub communities and animal communities; among other species, fallow deer, mouflons and roe deer occur there.

The Čierna skala Nature Reserve was also designated in 1996 and covers 29.71 hectares. It protects karst formations in limestone as well as preserved xerothermic communities. The natural forest and open-land communities are interspersed with rock walls and scree slopes. The name Čierna skala is used not only for the nature reserve, but also as the destination of a marked trail and as the name of a 662-metre-high peak.

Hiking trails and cycling routes

The Jahodník recreation area is the starting point for marked hiking trails to Čierna skala and Záruby. An access trail to Driny Cave also begins there. Jahodník is partly located in the cadastral area of Lošonec. Several marked hiking trails pass through Lošonec and connect the Jahodník and Majdan recreation areas with Plavecké Podhradie.

The Malokarpatská cykloturistická magistrála runs through the foothills near Lošonec. A cycling loop leads via Majdan and the Parina ponds along forest roads to Doľany. A yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Jahodník to the Čierna skala Nature Reserve. From the 662-metre-high summit of Čierna skala, there is a view of the extensive forests of the Little Carpathians and the Danube Hills.

Culture and history

The Roman Catholic Church of St. Anne, together with its fortifications, is listed as a national cultural monument. The present-day presbytery was created during the Baroque reconstruction of 1714, while the two side chapels were added in 1753.

A wooden pulpit has been preserved in the church. It displays features of late ornamentation and elements of the High Baroque and dates from the period of the interior furnishings, completed by 1753.

The construction phases can be identified in different parts of the church interior: the presbytery belongs to the Baroque reconstruction, while the side chapels were added later. The pulpit also points to the completed interior furnishings. Reconstruction, extension and furnishings therefore form a chronological sequence that can be understood through specific architectural elements and a preserved furnishing.
