Žemberovce lies at the transition between the northern part of the Ipeľská pahorkatina upland and the Štiavnické vrchy Mountains. The Natura 2000 site SKUEV0870 covers the cadastral area of Dolné Žemberovce.

Nature

In its northern section, the Horšianska dolina nature trail passes through the Horšianska dolina National Nature Reserve. The entire trail is 5.8 kilometres long, can be completed in approximately 2 to 2.5 hours and is classified as a moderately difficult route. For the northern section, it is recommended to walk from Žemberovce to Horša.

The route includes a signposted ford where the Sikenica must be crossed. When water levels are high, during the snowmelt or after heavy rainfall, passage through the valley is not permitted. A viewpoint along the nature trail offers a unique view of a meander of the Sikenica and displays andesite pyroclastics.

Culture

Žemberovce Manor is a Classicist mansion with a Neo-Romanesque redesign. It was renovated in 1812 and extended with an addition at the end of the 19th century. The birthplace of Major Daniel Gonda is also part of the local commemorative heritage; it is a monument registered as a memorial house with a commemorative plaque. His grave with a gravestone is listed as protected cultural heritage in Žemberovce.

Religious buildings include the Roman Catholic Church of Kostol Mena Panny Márie, a Baroque church built in 1754, and the evangelical church. The latter was built in 1886 in the traditional Classicist style of Josephine churches. The single-nave building has a polygonal altar apse, a sacristy and a projecting tower.

Annual traditions in Žemberovce include a Fašiangy procession. At the Fašiangy celebration on 5 March 2011, the programme included a home slaughter held in front of the health centre and in the premises of the seniors' club, as well as the traditional funeral of the double bass at the cultural centre. Traditional activities included viticulture, weaving, basket-making and the production of wooden goods.
