The Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria in Hrboltová preserves part of an originally Gothic church built in the 13th century as a side chapel; it was remodelled in the 19th century. The preserved sanctuary contains the original ribbed vault with a central keystone. For visitors interested in culture, this is a sacred site with several clearly discernible historical layers.

Culture

Among the oldest structures in the area are the masonry stone granaries in Hrboltová. These historic stone granaries house an exhibition on the history of the Hrboltová district. The building and the exhibition offer two different cultural perspectives: one through the preserved structure, the other through local history.

Nature

Hrboltová Forest Park offers an easy walk to war memorials and a viewpoint. An easily accessible viewpoint is located in the upper part of the forest park. The central area contains memorials to those who fell in the First and Second World Wars. The different highlights can be considered separately if you wish to give movement, views and remembrance different weights in your day's itinerary.

A walk through the park creates a different focus from a visit to a historic interior or an exhibition. The combination of landscape and remembrance also remains an independent perspective alongside the cultural and historical sites.

History

The Chapel of the Seven Sorrows of the Virgin Mary is located in Hruštie on the road between Nová Hrboltová and Hrboltová. It was moved from the old road in Nová Hrboltová to its present location. From the chapel, there is a view of the church in Černová.

The location, former position and view raise different questions about the same historic site. You can therefore experience the chapel as a building, as part of local history and as a vantage point within the landscape.

Traditions

The traditional “Stavanie mája” celebration was announced for Hrboltová. As part of it, a procession from the Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria to the Potočná bus stop was planned.

When choosing a holiday apartment in Hrboltová, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions can highlight different priorities in your personal accommodation decision. These details relate to the specific accommodation choice, while the places and routes described open up their own cultural, landscape and historical themes. This keeps the accommodation question separate from the character of the individual stops.

A walk, an interior, an exhibition and a cycling tour stand alongside one another as different types of activity; which themes you combine is up to your day's itinerary. The historic sites offer different points of connection from the paths through the forest park or the announced local tradition.

The cycling tour “From Ružomberok to the Wetland in Stankovany” passes through Nová Hrboltová to Hrboltová and goes past Hrboltová Forest Park, with a memorial to the world wars.
